Gladys married Elmer Nafziger of Martinsburg. Together they operated the family dairy farm, Evergreen View Farm, in Martinsburg for over 30 years. They moved to their home in the village of Lowville after selling the farm to their son Sidney. She was dearly beloved by her family, husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her in the community. A gentle and elegant lady, she valued hard work, Christian values, and her family. She demonstrated by her actions that kindness and a gentle spirit are more powerful than force or bluster and that the quiet joys of life are to be treasured. Elmer and Gladys were married for over 64 years, a testament to their love and commitment. Under her gentle exterior, she was fiercely independent and secure in her beliefs. She can no longer hold our hands, but will hold our hearts forever.

The farm's U-cut fields are open this weekend! Here's what you'll get at Evergreen View Farm that you won't get if you buy a Christmas tree at a big-box store:
- A tree that’s guaranteed to be fresh and grown in New York State - Crisp farm air, great views and a little bit of exercise - A chance to create family memories and traditions - Free cocoa and homemade Christmas cookies - A chance to support a local farm and keep New York land in agriculture - The satisfaction of harvesting a tree yourself - Large selection of trees to choose from For your convenience, we also have a number of pre-cut trees waiting at the Old Barn for quick, easy loading. (And you’ll still get the cookies!) Main pathways in the tree field are plowed and we provide sleds for children and to drag out your tree. Come out to the farm for family fun! |
